25 years in the
service of the common Arab work and the sector of the railway
transport in the Arab countries

The Union has as target to assure the coordination of its members
efforts, the cooperation between them, the necessary help that they
need to guarantee the promotion and the prosperity of the Arab
railway sector from the point of view of the output, of the
activities widening and of the link of the Arab railway networks
between them and with the international networks. This will be very
useful for the development plans and for the passengers and freight
transportation in the frame of the realization of the Arab
economical complementarity .

On the initiative of the Arab economical unity council and with the
participation of eight Arab States, the comity representing these
States has decided during its meeting in the office of the Jordanian
ministry of transport in Amman on April 1979 to proclaim the
creation of the Arab Union of Railways in view to face the
requirements of the persent period regarding the development and the
modernization of the railway networks in the Arab countries .
